Team Friendly
“Pos-Friendly”: we created Mr. Friendly to promote stigma-free communication. We believe the symbol and campaign help build a community of allies for the cause.
The Mission of our campaign is to address the ever-changing stigma associated with HIV. We continue to explore ways to message on how to be an ally to those affected by HIV, to raise awareness of the latest HIV science, and to alleviate the effects of HIV stigma.
We are dropping the “Mr.” from our campaign. Since HIV affects all persons, we recognize the importance of reaching everyone and also recognize the term “Mr.” is limiting by not speaking to our society’s understanding of gender.
We feel the term “Team Friendly” best expresses our Mission: to fight the stigma of HIV one Friendly conversation at a time.
We learn, we change to combat stigma, and we are constantly evaluating our campaign to be more inclusive.
The Face of HIV Awareness
Our campaign began in the Leather community. The original color scheme of a face came from the Leather Pride Flag colors. We have been conscious of expanding the options of how to use the Friendly logo. The original buttons are still available with other color/style options.
Our buttons and symbols will be referred to as Friendly buttons, Friendly conversations, Team Friendly events, It Takes a Friendly Village, Friendly Pup, Friendly Pig, and Friendly Kitten.
Goodbye “Mr.”, Hello “Team Friendly”!

Meet Our Team
Steve J Nunez-Jirgl, President
Steve’s journey begins with Mr. Friendly 2015, being the first title holder for San Francisco and the first for the US. He took the Mr Friendly non-profit to the next level. He formed the Bay Are Chapter for the non-profit in 2016 as Producer/President of the Mr/Team Friendly San Francisco. In 2020, we wanted to expand the title to be inclusive and more welcoming to all LGBTQIA+, so we took away the suffix “Mr” and became Team Friendly. One Conversation at a time fighting the stigma of HIV, one Ambassador every year since 2015.
